A unique approach to rapid business transformation
firmClassic example of a rapid business transformation programme at a successful family owned printing company with a turnover of £13 million. The firm serves the retail point of sale market and was suffering from reduced gross margins due to recessionary pressure.
However the underlying problem arose from the success of the two entrepreneurs in building their sales turnover up from £3 million to £13 million in ten years. The business had grown to a point where they now employed 150 people , confronting the founders with totally new management challenges in terms of systems, processes and leadership.
The approach: The TBD specialist facilitated a collaborative leadership style of management by instigating a fast track team-planning programme. The planning process led by the MD refocused the top team and engaged the support and buy-in from large members of staff to produce a transformation in performance. The immediate result was a comprehensive range of agreed, measured and sustainable improvement plans integrated into an overall “Management Action Plan” and impacting nearly every area of the company.
The methods: All employees contributed to the planning process and provided data about the opportunities and constraints impacting the company. This data was fed into the team based planning system involving directors and senior managers working together in a sequence of team planning workshops. Additional coaching was targeted at key weaknesses in decision-making, management and planning revealed by the staff feedback.
The outcome: The result was a roll out of 30 improvement projects with an overall aggregate value of £1.8 million. Projects included delivery of:
